INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE OR INDIAN POLITICAL LEAGUE

IPL...INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE... has been in news for last two years...
drew a lot of news....controversies...debates...and everything which gave a perfect publicity to the league..
First it was about the auction and the money that was spent on each player....
then it was about the stardom involved.....
sometimes dress code of the cheer leaders...
some other time it is songs and promos that each team had...
then slapping the opposition players...
players caught with drugs....and
then team franchises having a go at their players,coach and captain ....so on...


But out and out it was a big hit that even affected the success of big multistarers in bollywood...
It is believed that the channel which bought the satellite rights had an awesome profits...


The latest controversy which is in news is about the safety and security of the players .
The recent incidents that took place ;say 26/11,terrorist attack on srilankan players made the cricketing world to think twice about playing cricket in INDIAN SUBCONTINENT.
While there are players who already posing a doubt over their participation in the second edition...Indian home ministry had made it clear that " CRICKET WHEN PLAYED IN INDIA IS SAFE".
But the ministry is surly concern about providing paramilitary forces " IF NECESSARY"(as the ministry stress on!!)....because the schedule of IPL will be clashing with the general elections that are to be held at the same time..
ministry feels that it may not provide enough security if required at some point of time.So they have asked to postpone the league which is almost impossible..so what the organizers have planned is to change the schedule .According new schedule ,cricket will be played only on the days where there is no election going on!!


This whole episode leads us into a big debate...
SHOULD IPL GO ON IN THE PRESENT SITUATION ??IS THE MILLION DOLLER QUESTION

A SET OF SO CALLED PESSIMISTIC PEOPLE ARGUE ABOUT POSTPONEMENT OF THE LEAGUE.
They feel that Indian security system is not as affective so as to provide their 100% simultaneously fot both the major events.According them it is a risky job to take up, taking into consideration the latest developments in India.They feel that providing fool proof security to both the major events is our prime responsibility which is not possible in present situation.They feel that it an issue of national pride and if anything oddy takes place it would be treated as a dent in the history of India.It is also sure that this may affect the world cup that is to be held in 2011,which would be a bigger and prestigious  event that IPL.They argue that for the sake of few corers , risking the players life is not approppriate .
So either of the event,IPL or GENERAL ELECTION can go on .Postponing election don't make any sence in a democracy like ours.So the only option we can play safe is by postponing the IPL.This ensure both safety of the game as well as players.Mainly people belonging to the age group 40+ are strongly opposing that both the events can be held simultaneously .Even if there is a change in the schedule, they feel that there is no need to play cricket in the present situation where cricketers are the being targeted keeping in view Lahore incident.They also stress the point that playing cricket with fear at back of your mind is of no fun!!!

On the other side they are people who still say that both the events can go  hand in hand.May because of the huge sum of money involved or even to save country's pride(which sounds business interesting).They also feel that People outside India don't see us as one, they see India,Pak,Sri lanka & Bangladesh under same roof and we need to prove them wrong!!!So IPL is a opportunity to prove where India stands.Some may also disagree with the fact that there is security concerns. Security concerns can't be completely ruled out in the present situation.
The test matches that played between India and Australia just after the 26/11 stands as a proof for the security that is provided for cricketer who tour India.They also say that it is not the matter of huge sums of money involved; it's all related to country's pride.WHY SHOULD WE STOP CRICKET JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED IN AN OTHER PART OF THE WORLD? which can't be given a convening answer.As the ministry says "cricket is India was always safe and will be in the future" strengthens  their argument.And there are people who disagree with the postponement just because of huge sums of money and stardom involved.

IPL chief MR.LALITH MODI feels that the new schedule will wash away all the fear at back of players minds and and other persons who would think conducting IPL during election time is risky.He ensures full safety both to the players and people who come to watch it.After a week long discussion with home ministry, a new schedule has been drawn and IPL would go on floors as scheduled on 10th of April.The new schedule has been drafted keeping in view the availability of security forces,election dates and also in connection with the concern state government.

HE ALSO ENSURE 10 TIMES MORE SECURITY TO THE PLAYERS.

HE ALSO PROMISES TO DELIVER THE SEQUAL WHICH WILL BE MORE BIGGER,PROFITABLE AND SAFE!!!

THE LATEST DEVELOPMENT IS THAT A.P STATE POLICE ALREADY MADE IT CLEAR THAT UNTILL APRIL 23RD WHEN THE SECOND PHASE OF ELECTIONS GETS OVER SECURITY CAN'T BE PROVIDED.MUMBAI AND DELHI POLICE ARE ALSO LIKELY TO TAKE THE SAME PATH.

I personally feel that people are either fully supporting the issue or disagreeing with it.Yes there are concerns about the security.But whole of this controversy is triggered with the incident that took place in Lahore.The ministry had no issues until and unless, this unusual situation raised.It's unique , they didn't even know that they couldn't provide enough security not because of the terrorist attacks, but because the dates clash with the general elections that are to be held.Better late then never they have realized the fact that security "MAY" not be sufficient for league, hence asked the IPL panel to change the schedule.
The schedule has been changed keeping in view the election dates in particular states.
This clearly says one thing that "security is required only on the day when matches are on"!!! Which is crazy.The players need security rite from the day they land in India till they depart. This fact is over looked in drawing the new schedule.Election commission can conduct election across India on 1 day itself.But it doesn't do this because it it not possible to provide sufficient administrative supporta and security across India on 1 particular day.That  is reason why elections are conducted lap wise.Which mean there is no enough security for election itself.So "how can an another major event take place??" is a question that everyone should look at.

But if there is tight security and perfect planning, conducting both the events is not a impossible task.The home ministry should take utmost care in providing security to both the events.If it happens,then India will be looked as one of the safe places in the world.Hope everything goes on with any problem!!!

One advantage of the whole one going debate is that this controversy has brough in publicity to the league....


THERE IS SOMETHING INTERESTING HERE....
THERE WAS A SURVEY CONDUCTED ON THE PRESENT TOPIC...WHERE IN 60% WANTED BOTH THE EVENTS TO GO ON.....35% WANTED TO POSTPONE THE EVENT(IPL) CONSIDERING ELECTIONS TO BE MORE IMPORTANT.
BUT THERE WERE 5% PEOPLE WHO WANTED ELECTIONS TO BE POSTPONED!!!
